We find ourselves within another neighborhood of Mississauga, Meadowvale.

Meadowvale is a community located in the northwestern part of Mississauga. It was once a village in the Toronto Township, in the 19th century and early 20th century.

As towns and villages were being amalgamated into the City of Mississauga, Meadowvale was selected for the name of a new town community.

The name Meadowvale was applied to a development a few miles west along Derry Road.

Meadowvale is situated near the Credit River, which lies to the east. The rough boundaries of Meadowvale are Ninth Line, Mississauga Road, Highway 401, and Brittania Road.

Meadowvale has two lakes, Aquitaine and Wabukayne, both of which are largely man-made. There are a system of parks and trails that connect the two lakes, which are located approximately 1.5 km apart.

The population of Meadowvale in 209 is at 104,540; looking back at 2006, we see an increase of almost 5,000.

Let us begin to look back at the history of Meadowvale as we can learn quite a bit from the history, and best of all it is always interesting. The village of Meadowvale was established by Irish Immigrants from the state of New York. In its early years, the main industry was milling, where the power came from the Credit River.

In 1968, Meadowvale was incorporated into the new Town of Mississauga. We then saw in the 1970s, the farmland just west of the original Meadowvale Village developed into a series of subdivisions that make up much of present day Meadowvale.

The area has continued to expand every since then, and now fills much of the northwest corner of Mississauga.

Meadowvale Village is located adjacent to the largest business park area in Mississauga, the second largest being Meadowvale Village. You can find numerous corporations offices, factories and other buildings located here.

Meadowvale Village was recognized as Ontario's first Heritage Conservation District in 1980.
